Karen Amesse is the Executive Director of Academics for three charter schools serving over 8,000 students throughout California. She is committed to supporting students and their families, as demonstrated through her various roles as a teacher, student data analyst, intervention coordinator, and school administrator. Karen wholeheartedly supports parents' choice in education and believes that students best reach their full potential in personalized learning environments.
Karen holds a Multiple-Subject Teaching Credential from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. She also has an administrative services credential and earned a Master of Arts in Education focusing on Curriculum and Instruction from Azusa Pacific University.
Karen recently co-authored a research paper on California independent study charter schools, focusing on home-based pedagogies, enrollment trends, and student demographics. She uses her research and curriculum development skills to identify the widespread issue of psychological abuse among men while working collaboratively to create resources to help guide and support them.
Though she never had the opportunity to meet Hunter, she knows him through photos, videos, and countless stories, where she has learned that his character, personality, and love for others were extraordinary. Karen believes that continuing Hunter’s legacy is vital to bringing hope and support to men in need. As a mom of three boys, she is passionate about Hunter’s Heart's mission and is honored to serve on its board.
